Privacy Policy — Jibu Quiz

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy describes how Extra Brains (Pty) Ltd ("Extra Brains," "we," "us," or "our") processes personal information when you use the Jibu Quiz mobile application for Android and iOS (the "App").

We are committed to protecting your personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA") and other laws that may apply.

For general information about our company website and services, you may also read our company privacy policy at extrabrains.co.za/privacy-policy. If anything in that policy conflicts with this App-specific policy as it relates to Jibu Quiz, this policy prevails for the App.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the App, we may collect or receive:

  • Account and authentication data: such as email address (if you register with email), authentication identifiers from sign-in providers (e.g. Google or Apple, where enabled), and related profile identifiers managed through our authentication service.
  • Profile and social data: display name, public game handle or tag, avatar or cosmetic choices, friends list and friend requests where you use those features, and related gameplay identifiers needed to operate multiplayer and leaderboards.
  • Gameplay and app usage data: campaign progress, scores, achievements, multiplayer match records, party-mode usage where applicable, Daily Discovery activity, and similar data stored to provide the game and improve reliability.
  • Support and communications: information you send us when you contact support (e.g. device type, app version, screenshots, description of the issue).
  • Technical and diagnostic data: device type, operating system version, app version, crash reports, and limited diagnostic or performance data to keep the App secure and stable.
  • Purchase-related data: we do not receive your full payment card details. Purchases are processed by Apple or Google. We may receive subscription or purchase status and transaction identifiers from those platforms to validate entitlements in the App.

3. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the App and its features;
  • Authenticate users, sync progress across devices where supported, and operate multiplayer, friends, and leaderboard features;
  • Validate in-app purchases and subscriptions and restore entitlements;
  • Respond to support requests and communicate important service information;
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse or cheating, and debug technical issues (including crash analytics where enabled);
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

We rely on appropriate legal bases under POPIA where required, such as performance of a contract (providing the App), legitimate interests (security and improvement), consent (where we ask for it), or legal obligation.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

  • Service providers that help us host, secure, and operate the App (for example cloud infrastructure and authentication providers). These providers process data on our instructions and are bound to protect it.
  • Apple and Google as necessary to process payments and deliver the App through their platforms.
  • Authorities when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or integrity of users and Extra Brains.

5. Retention and security

We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information.

6. Your rights

Under POPIA you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to certain processing of your personal information, subject to law. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

You can request account deletion from within the App where available (see our Delete your account and data help page). If you cannot use the App, contact us using the details below.

7. Children

The App is intended for a general audience consistent with its store age rating. If you believe a child has provided personal information in a way that should not be processed, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

8. International transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries other than South Africa. Where required, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards apply in line with applicable law.

9. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the effective date. Material changes may also be communicated through the App or other reasonable means where appropriate.
